Torcuato Di Tella Has Passed Away

Engineer and sociologist Torcuato Di Tella has died at the age of 86. Easily recognisable by his signature glasses and neat white hair, his long political career includes founding the emblematic Di Tella Institute and serving as Argentina's Culture Secretary.

Di Tella's brother, Guido, served as Foreign Minister under former President Carlos S. Menem during the 90s. Torcuato was the Culture Secretary under former President Néstor Kirchner and ambassador to Italy under former President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner. The brothers founded the Di Tella Institute, a non-profit organization that promoted Argentine culture and brought together great artists and intellectuals of the 60s.

Di Tella's remains will be mourned in the University that takes his name and later buried in Chacarita cemetery.
