Summer capsule 2018, Part 1 (Planning)

I'm currently going through a major decluttering phase, going from room to room and getting rid of a lot of things, including clothes. It's amazing how many clothes I have, even after about a year of decluttering. Right now, I think I've reached the peak of decluttering. It's not over, probably, but for now I'm done.
Anyway. This means that aside from my random visits to thrift stores (mostly when I actually go to donate clothes), I'm not sure I want to buy items specifically for the summer capsule, mostly because I'm afraid of having to get rid of them later on.
Estoy en un momento de despejarme de mis cosas, yendo de cuarto a cuarto y sacando cajas de ítems (lo cual incluye ropa) cada semana. Es increíble cuánta ropa tengo aún después de un año de deshacerme de lo que no necesito. Por ahora creo que hice todo lo que necesitaba hacer pero andá a saber. Probablemente siga deshaciéndome de cosas pero por ahora estoy.
En fin. Esto significa que más allá de cualquier visita que podría llegar a hacer de la nada a una feria americana (lo cual suele ser cuando voy a donar ropa), no sé si quiero comprar ítems específicamente para la cápsula de verano, más que nada por miedo de tener que donarlos después.

There are a couple of things to potentially counter that, though. First, over the past couple of months I've decided that I want to try and define a general colour palette for my clothes, making sure that any new purchases (should they arise) become part of a cohesive wardrobe. So that's my general goal to start applying as of the summer capsule (inspired by the YouTube channel Vested Interests, although I probably won't pare down to just 50 items).
Second, on the back of my latest capsule, the spring capsule, I think I have to make my capsule even more casual than I thought. Plus, my least-worn items were my polka dot skirt and my Christian Dior shirt. The skirt is probably a fit issue and I'll take it to the tailor the next time I want to wear it. As for the Dior shirt...I love it, but it's very, very delicate. I don't mind handwashing clothes but it feels practically like tissue paper: that's why I haven't worn it as much. That's a good thing to keep in mind for the next capsule and potential future purchases.
Hay un par de cosas que podrían ayudar con esto que se me vienen ocurriendo hace un par de meses. Primero, quiero tratar de definir una paleta de color general para mi ropa, yendo más allá de sólo comprar lo que necesito e incorporar ropa que sea parte de un ropero cohesivo. Así que ese es mi objetivo general que quiero aplicar a esta nueva cápsula y en general: me inspiró la YouTuber Vested Interest, aunque no creo que me desharía de tanta ropa que sólo me quedaría con 50 ítems como ella.
Segundo, según lo que observé con mi última cápsula, creo que tendría que hacer que mi cápsula sea más informal de lo que pensaba. Además, lo que menos usé fueron mi pollera de puntitos y mi camisa Dior. La pollera probablemente sea por cuestión de cómo me queda pero la voy a llevar a la modista la próxima vez que quiera usarla. En cuanto a la camisa...me encanta pero es muy, muy delicada. No me molesta lavar ropa pero se siente como papel tisú y por eso no la usé demasiado. Eso es un buen criterio para la próxima cápsula y futuras compras.

Defining the summer capsule // Definiendo la cápsula de verano
So. The summer capsule is set to be defined by a colour palette, much like previous ones, but bearing in mind the colours I wear the most often overall. To start brainstorming my new capsule, as well as my usual sketches, I created a Pinterest board and just pinned. This was a suggestion by Audrey Coyne, a fashion YouTuber, and was probably the most enjoyable part because my addiction to Pinterest felt vindicated, it had purpose.
Entonces. La cápsula de verano se va a definir por una paleta de color, como las anteriores, pero tomando en cuenta colores que más uso en general. Para empezar a pensarla, además de mis dibujos habituales, hice un board en Pinterest y fui eligiendo atuendos y cosas que me divertían. Esto fue sugerido por Audrey Coyne, una YouTuber de moda, y probablemente fue de las cosas que más me gustaron porque le dio validez mi adicción a Pinterest.

Based on the board and Coyne's recommendation, I revised what I had picked out and drew several conclusions and themes: colour blocking, more "minimalist" vibe, colourful but with less "noisy" prints (which I still love...do not despair!), more opaque hues. Also, lightweight materials with both classic and flowy silhouettes.
I had already noticed these colours but once again Color Palette FX comes to the rescue: these are the colours I could draw from the Pinterest board.
Basado en lo que elegí y las recomendaciones de Coyne, miré de vuelta todo y pude hacer varias conclusiones y temas: "colour blocking," muchos colores pero con estampados menos rimbombantes (me siguen encanto igual, no se preocupen) y tonos más opacos. Además, me atraen telas ligeras con siluetas clásicas y sueltas.
Ya había notado varios de estos colores pero usé de vuelta Color Palette FX y me ayudó un montón a definir la paleta del board.
I absolutely love these colours, I have plenty of clothes that fit the palette (maybe not the exact same shade or hue, but close enough) and I know that I look good in most of them. A bit dark, on the whole, than what you might expect for summer, but I will probably be using a lot of white, so that should balance the darker colours out.
Based on the capsule and what I actually need, I would potentially get:
a) a pair of white shorts,
b) a lightweight, colourful dress
c) dark, lightweight trousers (burgundy or dark blue)
If I find the perfect pair, I would also get short dungarees but that's unlikely. As for colours, based on the palette and what I know I have and use, I would be looking for yellow or green. I do have a mustard shirt but it's a fairly heavy cotton that isn't appropriate for Buenos Aires summer.
Me encantan estos colores y tengo ropa que encajan en la paleta (quizás no exactamente igual, pero cerca) y sé que la mayoría me queda bien. Un poco oscuro, quizás, para verano pero probablemente ande usando mucho blanco, lo cual debería equilibrar todo.
Basado en la cápsula y lo que realmente nevesito, potencialmente conseguiría:
a) un par de shorts blancos
b) un vestido ligero
c) pantalones ligeros de color oscuro (bordó o azul oscuro)
Si encontrara un par de enteritos cortos que me queden perfecto, los incorporaría, pero dudo que pase. En cuanto a colores, basado en la paleta y lo que sé que tengo y uso, estaría buscando algo amarillo o verde. Tengo una camisa color mostaza pero es muy pesada para el verano bonaerense.
Given that I'm in a decluttering phase right now, I doubt that I'll be buying a bunch of clothes but these are good guidelines to have in case for whatever reason I decide to go on a thrifting spree. Having a list and knowing what "gaps" there are always helps. It should also be noted that I'm not necessarily going after specific items that I saw in Pinterest because of outfit envy, but focusing on the silhouettes and the colours that I like.

Dado que estoy a full haciendo "decluttering," dudo mucho que vaya a comprar varias cosas pero siento que estos son buenos criterios para tener en caso de que me tiente con algo. Teniendo una lista y sabiendo cuáles son los "vacíos" siempre ayuda. También debería señalar que no estoy buscando necesariamente la ropa que vi en Pinterest pero sí me estoy enfocando en siluetas y colores que me gustaron.
Ya había identificado varias cosas que necesitaba como camisas de manga corta, que ya pude conseguir y verán en mi #haulternative, lo cual voy a subir pronto junto a la cápsula final!
