Looking back: Av. Santa Fe 512
Looking back at the past week with a photo or a selection of my favourites shots along with my thoughts and impressions.
Avenida Santa Fe is always busy, with many cars and buses charging down the asphalt by the San Isidro hospital. You would think that most places along this avenue would stand out, but the entrance of my favourite vintage shop Casi Nuevo ("Almost New") at Santa Fe 512 was almost invisible to passersby, often discernible only thanks to the mannequin placed outside when it opened.
Casi Nuevo held a farewell sale on Saturday as it prepares to change its venue. The inconspicuous entrance, the heavy door, creaking floorboards, the smell of clothes and makeshift dressing rooms separated by curtains gave the place a certain charm. Not to mention the handful of septuagenarian volunteers that offer friendly advice and later copy out the minute, handwritten descriptions on each tag in their ledger when you pay for your items.
I was glad to see so many people turn up (and managed to get a couple of items that will be featured in the upcoming haulternative post!). The spirit will be the same and they're only moving a couple of blocks away, but I still felt compelled to picture the old entrance before leaving.

Avenida Santa Fe está siempre a mil, con muchos autos y bondis abalanzándose por el asfalto en frente del hospital de San Isidro. Pensarías que los lugares que están sobre la avenida se destacarían pero la entrada de mi feria americana preferida Casi Nuevo, Av. Santa Fe 512, era casi invisible para transeúntes: muchas veces sólo el maniquí que ponían afuera cuando abrían la hacía discernible.
En su último día en su dirección actual, Casi Nuevo hizo una liquidación a modo de despedida. La entrada poco llamativa, la puerta pesada, piso chirriante, el olor a ropa y los vestuarios frágiles separados por cortinas le brindaba un encanto particular a este lugar. Eso sin tomar en cuenta las voluntarias septuagenarias que te dan consejos y luego copian las descripcioens minuciosas de las etiquetas en su libro de contabilidad al momento de pagar.
Me puso feliz ver a tanta gente el sábado (y pude comprar un par de cosas que van a estar en el haulternative que sale esta semana!). El espíritu será el mismo, seguramente, y sólo se mudan dos cuadras pero de todas formas quise sacarle una foto a la vieja entrada antes de irme.
