Summer capsule 2018, Part 2 (Haul & Capsule)

Welcome to part two of my 2018 summer capsule wardrobe! Well, 2018-2019. It is 2019 now...but technically this capsule started in 2018, even if I did leave for Patagonia immediately after. Let's just get into this, shall we?

Bienvenidxs a la segunda parte de mi cápsula de primavera 2018! Bueno, 2018-2019. En realidad ya estamos en 2019 pero esta cápsula arrancó en 2018, aunque me haya ido directamente a Patagonia. Como sea. Arranquemos, dale?

The "haul"

I won't go into too much detail because I'm planning to do a #haulternative post: that said, I found a bunch of things that were specific to the aesthetic and list that I had set up in the planning stage. One amazing find was my new denim shorts: roomy, high-waisted and with a pocket shaped like a pair of denim shorts. What else could I possibly ask for?

No voy a entrar demasiado en detalle porque estoy planeando una #haulternative (una presentación de cosas nuevas obtenidas en manera alternativa, es decir, sustentable). Dicho esto, encontré varias cosas que encajaban en la estética que buscaba y la lista que había delineado en la etapa de planear la cápsula. Una cosa increíble que encontré fue este par de shorts: cómodos, tiro alto y con un bolsillo que tiene la forma de shorts. ¿Qué más podría pedir?

The dyes made a comeback,as well: this time, to revamp the pair of linen trousers I already own and used for my spring capsule. They were white and, after six years, looking a little worse for wear, so I dyed them blue and absolutely love the new look. I would never wear jeans in Argentine summer because the heat is unbearable but these trousers are now a great alternative.

I also dyed a newly-thrifted silk shirt: it was white but after washing it, don't ask me why, but a yellow stain actually showed up (no, I did not stick it in the washing machine or use harsh chemicals). The answer was to dye it brown and now it looks almost exactly like a shirt I had saved onto the summer capsule Pinterest board. I also sewed the buttons on backwards just because they looked cooler that way.

Nuevamente acudí a teñir un par de cosas: esta vez, cambié el color de unos pantalones de lino que ya tenía y usé para mi cápsula de primavera. Eran blancos y después de seis años estaban un poco baqueteados así que los teñí azul y me encanta cómo quedaran. Nunca usaría jeans en verano acá por el calor pero ahora estos pantalones son una buena alternativa.

También teñí una camisa de seda que compré en una feria americana: era blanca pero después de lavarla, no me pregunten por qué pero apareció una mancha (la lavé a mano con jabón delicado, no sé qué pasó). Mi respuesta fue teñirla marrón y es casi idéntica a una camisa que había puesto en mi Pinterest de la cápsula de verano. También cosí los botones al revés porque me gustó cómo quedaron.

Another addition is this beautiful pair of white cotton trousers in the above picture, they are very lightweight and have great lattice (I think that's what it's called) details. They are the coolest, in the literal sense of the word, trousers I own and for that I am grateful.

Plus, since my birthday was in December, I also got a dress as a present which overall fit the bill for what I wanted to add to my capsule. It's not the usual shape that I would go for, it has those sleeves which you can use with your shoulders out, but we'll see how it goes!

Después están los pantalones en la foto anterior, que me encantan, son de algodón con detalles de celosía (creo que se dice así). Como tienen esos recortes cuando camino hay una brisa divina que me viene genial para la cale

Además, como mi cumpleaños cae en diciembre, también recibí un vestido que a grandes rasgos encajaba en lo que estaba buscando. No es la forma que suelo elegir, se puede usar con los hombros expuestos, pero ¡veremos qué onda!

The result // El resultado

Tada! The colours and the overall aesthetic is in line with what I had planned and I like that everything is visible: the boxes above the hangers contain shirts, shorts and knits. You can look at the contents in the gallery below, as well as the shoes I picked out (click any image to enlarge).

¡Y listo! Los colores y la estética en general están en línea con lo que había pensado. Me gusta que todo esté a la vista: las cajas arriba de todo tienen remeras, shorts y abrgos. Pueden ver todo en detalle en la galería junto a los zapatos que elegí (hagan clic en cualquier imagen para agrandarlo).

This time, it took me quite a long time to consolidate this capsule, mostly because a) the weather wouldn't make up its mind and b) I then went to Patagonia for two weeks, where the temperatures were between 1°C and 20°C. Since I got back I've actually removed some items from the capsule because they were way too thick or bulky for Buenos Aires summer, which is now in full swing.

In fact, there are a few things I'm unsure about, like the sparkly black blazer, another amazing vintage find. Is it 100% necessary or cohesive? I'm not entirely sure. Is it fabulous? Very. Like I've said before, I don't really mind if it's not 100% set in stone. We can call it a fluid item and call it a day (you can see what that means in my spring capsule.) So, we're one month in: we'll see how it fares for the next two!

Esta vuelta, me tomó más tiempo consolidar esta cápsula, más que nada porque a) el clima no se decidía y b) me fui a Patagonia por dos semanas, con temperaturas de entre uno y veinte grados. Desde que volví en realidad saqué varios ítems porque eran demasiados gruesos para el verano porteño, que ya empezó con toda.

De hecho, hay varias cosas de las cuales no me termino de decidir. El blazer negro por ejemplo, otro tesoro vintage. Es 100 por ciento necesario o coherente con lo demás? No sé. Es fabuloso? Muy. Como dije, no me importa demasiado si no está 100% asentado el tema. Podríamos decir que es un ítem "fluído" y fue (pueden ver qué significa eso en mi cápsula de primavera.) En fin: vamos un mes, ¡veremos qué onda por los próximos dos!
